OurElected ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following information:
- Account information: your email address and encrypted password when you create an account, plus any optional profile fields you choose to provide (such as ZIP code, party affiliation, or political leaning — used only to personalize your in-app experience)
- Subscription data: your billing plan, payment status, and billing transition history (payment details are processed and stored by Stripe — we never store raw card numbers)
- Analytics data: pages you view, how long you spend on them, which features you use (e.g. searches, bill views, alerts), and the funnel steps you reach (signup, pricing, upgrade). Each event is tagged with a per-tab session identifier so we can count visits and measure feature usage. This data is collected by us directly — we do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other third-party tracking service.
- Technical data: your browser, operating system, device type (mobile / tablet / desktop), and approximate location (country and region) derived from your IP address. We do not store the raw IP address itself.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and maintain your account and subscription
- Send transactional emails (account confirmation, billing receipts, plan changes)
- Improve the platform based on usage patterns
- Respond to support inquiries
- Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
3. What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell your personal information to third parties
- We do not use your data for advertising or ad targeting
- We do not share your email with any third party except as required to operate the service (e.g., Stripe for billing, Resend for transactional email)
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Supabase, a SOC 2-compliant database platform. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plaintext. Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS compliant. We use HTTPS for all data in transit.
5. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use authentication cookies (set by Supabase, our database provider) to keep you logged in. These are strictly necessary for the platform to function.
For analytics, we also use your browser’s sessionStorage to hold a temporary, randomly- generated session identifier so we can count distinct visits and measure how features are being used. The session identifier resets after 30 minutes of inactivity and is not linked to any advertising network. It is not technically a cookie, but we disclose it here so you have a complete picture of what we store in your browser.
We do not use third-party tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or cross-site tracking. We do not sell or share your activity data with any external party.
6. Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us. You may also delete your account from your account settings page, which removes your personal information from our systems.
7. Children's Privacy
OurElected is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email. Continued use of OurElected after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
