The House passed six bills between July 14 and July 16, led by the Ukraine Support Act, which would extend U.S. defense lending authority through 2028 and impose 500% tariffs on Russian goods. Four of the six passing bills rename VA clinics or medical centers. No bills were signed into law this week.
House passes Ukraine Support Act
The House passed HR 2913, sponsored by Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-NY-5), extending the President's authority to lend or lease defense articles to Ukraine through fiscal year 2028 and Defense Department security assistance authority through 2027.
Why it matters: Why it matters: The bill would also establish a reconstruction trust fund for Ukraine and authorize tariffs of at least 500% on Russian imports if the President determines Russia is waging aggressive war against Ukraine — a trade tool not currently on the books.
